 Projects:

Disseminating Information and Enhancing
Grassroots Public Involvement in the ongoing
PNA Reform Process

Project Summary:

  • Duration: (02/04 – 02/05)

  • Funding Source: CIDA

CFI has so far successfully conducted numerous workshops and town hall meetings according to the ‘Grant activity implementation plan’ throughout the West Bank districts. These districts include:

  1. Jerusalem

  2. Hebron

  3. Nablus

  4. Bethlehem

  5. Jenin

  6. Tulkarim

Among the participants were an expert speaker, decision makers (PNA and PLC representatives), community leaders, local political leaders, professionals, civil society institutions’ representatives and ordinary citizens. The ordinary citizen’s category included professionals, university students, home makers, women from age 17 and up and youth men aged from 17 to 35.

This project illustrates that the workshops and town hall meetings conducted has achieved the project’s objective by disseminating information and enhancing grassroots public involvement in the ongoing PNA reform process. From the project’s activities we can conclude that Palestinians are seriously concerned about the PNA’s reform process and its efforts, and disseminating information about the reform process through public meetings, electronic and written means have been achieved.

Project’s Specific Objectives

1st Objective: Educate Palestinian citizens in the women/youth sectors about the reform process
Indicator: To achieve objective number one, CFI will hold 14 workshops and 14 town hall meetings, publish 3,000 informational handouts, produce monthly reports in seven project regions and provide grading of the ongoing reform process through the work of a Reform Monitoring Committee.

2nd Objective: Establish local benchmarks about what local women/youth citizens want from reform efforts
Indicator: To achieve objective number two, CFI will hold 14 workshop events and 14 town hall meetings, produce recommendations from all of the events and forward them to local reform committees and to a Reform Monitoring Committee to establish these benchmarks.

3rd Objective: Disseminate information about the reform process through public meetings, electronic and written means.
Indicator: To achieve objective number three, CFI will produce 3,000 handouts, monthly reports from seven project regions, and monthly reports from the Reform Monitoring Committee about the ongoing reform process. All of these reports will be distributed via the CFI website and through the media through normal media releases.
